Sunday 25th – after vBeers last night, I went to the community breakfast tweetup – vBreakfast – organized by the lovely Shane Williford along with my friend and VCP #1, Susan Gudenkauf. After breakfast we registered and then took a quick tour of the Hands on Labs and visited the solutions exchange, Susan owns the R&D Innovation lounge this year in her new role in the office of the CTO.
I then met up with the Calligo team, Julian, Tom and Nick for lunch and the relaxed in the afternoon prior to the Welcome Reception in the Solutions Exchange. I stopped by the Tintri booth to collect my vExpert shirt, thanks guys, it’s awesome! I also stopped by Nutanix and caught up with Dheeraj and Sudeesh, their booth this year is amazing! I was on their booth last year and it’s very gratifying to see how they’ve grown and become so relevant in such a short space of time.
I also met, in person, Gina Minks on the Dell booth for the first time and I spent some time with my very old and dear friends Liquidware Labs – really looking like the Vizioncore team of old J.
There was soooo many other great community folks I met during the welcome reception, sorry for not mentioning you all, but you know who you are!
After the welcome reception, it was over to VMunderground, it has gone from strength to strength of the years and I caught up with so many old friends, including Tim Jabaut and Conrad Ramos, as well as meeting many of my new friends on twitter, like Kasia Lorenc. This community event was sponsored by many vendors and the organisers, Theron Conrey, Jim Millard, Sean Clark and Brian Knudtson, do this every year out of the goodness for the community – thanks guys!
Monday 26th – Now I’m in the Hangspace, sitting at the bloggers desk quickly writing this up prior to the general session starting. I’m excited to hear the keynote and will be reporting back my thoughts here later. I’ll be spending my time in the Hangspace and on the VMUG booth and I’ve got my VMUG shirt on for the GreenOut during this morning’s keynote – it’s gonna be awesome! This afternoon I’m attending Women of Purpose and really looking forward to this event. Later this evening is the VMUG leader reception, where I’ve been informed we’re receiving our new leader shirts, looking forward to ditching the green one, too many folks confused us with being Veeam employees!
