Hopefully most of you are aware of this awesome initiative that we’ve created to encourage newbies to speak at their very first VMUG? The deadline for submission is 19th December and more can be read here about the initiative and how to apply can be found here. Many of our members have already blogged about the benefits of speaking at a VMUG and this initiative in terms of your own career development and the opportunity to speak, perhaps for the first time, in front of a friendly, non-judgmental audience. One area that I wanted to focus on to encourage some more submissions (we have some great ones already, but there must be more of you that have a great experience to share with us?), it’s not just the prizes – although they are mega-super-awesome! – it’s not just the kudos you’ll get from being brave enough to get up in front of your peers and speak about your own environment/situation, no, it’s about helping us, the committee!
It is easy (relatively) for us to acquire VMware speakers and sponsor speakers, but we all want to hear from the “coal-face”. And getting users to speak is always the hardest part of putting together our meeting agendas. How many of you contribute to the VMTN Forums or assist your fellow colleagues within your work environment? Well, take that one step further and share your knowledge/experiences in the spoken form rather than just the written form! We’re only asking for 10 minutes of your time for a lightning talk and the rewards, in terms of the prizes on offer, are immense but think of the pride reward, think of this being a potential spring board to becoming a vExpert, if you’re not already, or, even better, being your first step to presenting a full session and becoming our next Julian Wood!
Looking forward to seeing you all at our 22nd January meeting, for which registration is now open!
